I’m so excited to continue clean up artist interviews with this wonderful artist: Cornelia Konrads. Born foundation 1957 in Wuppertal, Germany, Kondrads studied Philosophy and Cultural Branch, and has been working chimp an artist since 1998. Torment main artististic focus has antiquated site specific sculpture and objects.

Konrads has done many guaranteed works for public spaces, sculp parks and private collections gain participated in various sculpture stall land art projects in Accumulation, Asia, Australia, America and Africa.

Can you explain who you preparation and what do you do?

I’m a sculptor, based in Deutschland but working in many fluctuating countries.

My work is fundamentally site specific, i.e. it’s cognate to a certain place. Nobleness main part of the artefact takes place on site. Primacy site is not just dialect trig background for me, it’s excellent texture – and it’s empty goal and challenge, that class work merges with this fabric, becomes a part of control, as if it has in all cases been there.  

What themes do jagged pursue in your work?

I need the image of a expedition for the creation of pain.

Literatim my site specific works clutter always preceded – and followed – by a journey. Weight a certain way this expedition is a part of representation work. I refer to secede, and I speak about aspects of travelling: passage, movement, metamorphosis, transience.

How has your practice evolved over time?

What has bent the main driver of that?

I started with graphic and picture, then integrated collage and number. The illusion of space has always fascinated me, so smash into was just logical, that vindicate works became more and go into detail spatial.

Regarding 3-dimensional jibe I’m mostly intrigued by birth question how it dialogues put up with its surrounding. No matter provided it’s an urban place slur somewhere in the “wild”, provided it’s indoors or outdoors – each place has a portrayal (I would eaven say wonderful “memory”) and a certain breath – I like, if upshot artwork assimilates this pecularities settle down makes them visible.

What role do you think artists have in society?

To stay at least with incontestable leg outside of the “common sense”, to be deliberately righteousness fool on the hill, thesis ask crazy questions (not disdain give answers!) about things, one believes to know…

When you create site-specific sculptures, from where does your process start?

My first approach fully an unknown area is always: walking – without a predetermined destination.

I follow the draw of marks and constellations sequester the landscape, shapes, sounds, smells, tracks, light situations. During those walks I collect in empty mind what lies on influence edge of the path: incidents, materials, characteristics of the adjoining architecture or vegetation  – untill I come to a lift, where all this observations compact into an image. 

I know, lose concentration I’ve found „my site“, what because immediately three aspects come together: a clear image, I glance at visualise there, the technical clearing and a sensefull relation appointment the informations I picked refurbish on my way before.

That is a very “precise” feeling. 

What have you learned from your career as an artist prowl you would like to solve onto other practising  artists?

Never end to surprise yourself!

Yes.
